Mosquito Control

Mosquito infestations can be more than just a nuisance—they present serious health risks, as these insects are known to transmit various diseases. Spotting the early signs of an infestation is key to taking effective action.

One of the most obvious signs of a mosquito problem is the persistent buzzing sound they make. Mosquitoes produce a distinctive high-pitched hum while flying, and when there’s a large number of them, this noise becomes particularly noticeable, especially indoors. The constant buzzing can be quite bothersome.

Increased mosquito activity is another clear sign. Although mosquitoes are usually most active at dusk and dawn, a heavy infestation can cause them to be present throughout the day, especially in warm weather. They often seek shade during hotter parts of the day, which can lead to increased presence in shady spots around your home.

Lastly, mosquito bites are a definitive indicator of their presence. If you find yourself or your family getting bitten more frequently, particularly during outdoor activities or even indoors, it's a strong sign that a mosquito infestation is close by.

Mosquito Prevention

Remove Possible Breeding Areas: Since mosquitoes deposit their eggs in still water, it’s essential to eliminate any standing water around your home. Regularly inspect items like flower pots, buckets, bird baths, and other containers, and either empty them or cover them to stop water from collecting.

Utilize Mosquito Screens: Fit screens on your doors and windows to keep mosquitoes from entering your living spaces. Ensure that the screens are intact and do not have any rips or gaps that could permit mosquitoes to come inside.

Wear Suitable Clothing Outdoors: When enjoying outdoor activities, particularly during times when mosquitoes are most active (dusk and dawn), dress in long-sleeved shirts, long pants, socks, and closed shoes. Choose lighter-colored garments, as mosquitoes tend to be attracted to darker shades.

Use Mosquito Repellent: Apply an EPA-registered mosquito repellent to any exposed skin before heading outside. Seek out repellents that contain ingredients like DEET, picaridin, or oil of lemon eucalyptus, as these have been proven effective against mosquitoes.
